TRANSPARENT TRANSLUCENT AND OPAQUE

TRANSPARENT MATERIALS

Materials that allow light to pass through without significant scattering are called transparent materials. For example clear air, clear glass, clear water etc.

TRANSLUCENT MATERIALS

Materials that allow light to pass through them but scatter or diffuse the light as it passes through are called translucent materials. For example butter paper, frosted glass,paper smeared with oil.

OPAQUE MATERIALS

Materials that completely block light, are called opaque materials. For example metal mud cement coal and wood etc.
