In year 1600 East India company guaranteed Royal charter by Queen Elizabeth giving it exclusively privilege of trading east of cape of good hope for 15 years .
In year 1608, in Surat, the trade transit point established, and company ships docked there. The company now plans to open the factory at Surat in Gujarat, and Captain Hawkins sent.
In year 1608 captain William Hawkins sent to the court of Jahangir to obtain permission for opening Factory at Surat.
English opened their factory at Masulipatnam in year 1611.
In the year 1611, English defeated Portuguese in the battle of Swally Hole near Surat this convince Jahangir. And English allowed to set up their permanent factory at Surat.
In Year 1615, Sir Thomas Roy sent by King James 1 as an ambassador to the court of Jahangir Roy. Who was successful in getting Royal Farman from the king Jahangir.
English began to feel insecure in the absence of fortified settlement. And made an attempt to fortify Surat in the year 1625. And they failed to do it .So they shifted to Madras to avoid confrontation with Mughal Empire.
In year 1639 Francis day obtained Madras on lease from the Raja of Chandragiri. And shifted there centre of activity to Madras. And they developed Fort Saint George in year 1690. British bought spot Devanapatnam and renamed it as Fort Saint David.
In year 1651, at Hooghly, the first factory in Bengal was set up. In the year 1690, Job Charnock established the factory at Sutanuti. Which was fortified in the year 1696 and called Fort William.
In the year 1698, an English company obtained the zamindari of the village of Sutanuti, Kalikata & Govindpur from Azim-Us-Shan (He was Subedar of Bengal).
In year 1661, English King Charles II of England received Bombay as dowry later. Bombay was transferred to company on lease for 10 pounds per year in 1668 AD.
In year 1717 Farrukhsiyar gave royal farman to East India Company. It was a Magna Carta of companies trade in India it was a trading privilege for company in Bihar Bengal and Odisha.
